It’s about this man who wins a trained chimpanzee and decides that since in theory a monkey has the same capacity of speech as a human that he will teach this chimp to talk. He takes this on as a personal project and teaches the chimp basic phonemes. He is able to get him to imitate certain sounds but no matter how hard he tries the chimp won’t speak. Anyway, this idea of his grows into an obsession that dominates him and he starts to act much more aggressive toward the chimp. I won’t spoil the ending (I’m still not quite sure what to make of it) but for being only eight pages in length it was really interesting.
